Loved since the 60’ies
The first Seiko watch entered the market in 1963. It was called “Seiko Sportmatic 5” and it was both the brand’s and Japan’s first automatic day-date watch ever. The number “5” was meant to symbolize that for Seiko 5 watch produced in the future it had to have the following five specific properties:
- An automatic clockwork
- Day-Date display at the 3:00 PM position
- Water resistance
- Lowered crown by the 4.00 pm position
- A watch case and watch strap built to last at holde

In 2019 Seiko took the legendary SKX models out of production to relaunch Seiko 5 Sports in new modern designs. Since the relaunch of Seiko 5 Sports, the line has made a notable entrance on the market. With the first models from the relaunch of Seiko 5 Sports it was clear that were supposed to take over from the SKX models through a fresh new look.
