Loved since the 60’ies 

The first Seiko watch entered the market in 1963. It was called “Seiko Sportmatic 5” and it was both the brand’s and Japan’s first automatic day-date watch ever. The number “5” was meant to symbolize that for Seiko 5 watch produced in the future it had to have the following five specific properties: 

• An automatic clockwork
• Day-Date display at the 3:00 PM position
• Water resistance
• Lowered crown by the 4.00 pm position
