Watchia.com has been official internet-reseller (in the UK) of watches from Oris, since 2016.
Oris was founded in the Swiss city of Hölstein, in 1904, by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian. It was different times back then, when they made a deal with the mayor of the city, to produce watches there. It took only 7 years, for them to have more than 300 employees.. which required new houses and apartments to be built, to house all the watchmakers. With time, they outgrew their factory, and in 1925 they had 6 factories in total. 1938 was the year when Oris launched their first Pilot watch, that had a ”pointer calendar”-function and a bigger crown. That model is now recreated as: , which is one of the most popular Oris-collections.
Oris focuses only on automatic watches, and with their over 100 years of history of producing only Swiss Made watches, they have since long been experts. Just as important as their history, is the legacy that they will leave behind. We see many reissues of historic models, that are modernized – but also new and innovative models to a price that is well below the average from similar brands with similar quality. Oris is one of few existing, independent, Swiss brands, while most others are part of big groups or are owned by venture capitalists. This means that Oris aren't bound to anything else then get enough income to cover all expenses – and follow their vision.
